FAQ
Q: What is Reboot?
A: Reboot affirms the value of Jewish traditions and creates new ways for people to make them their own. Inspired by Jewish ritual and embracing the arts, humor, food, philosophy, and social justice, we produce creative projects that spark the interest of young Jews and the larger community. Among our productions are events, exhibitions, recordings, books, films, DIY activity toolkits, and apps. Since our inception, over 500 network members, 880 community organization partners, and hundreds of thousands of people have looked to Reboot to rekindle connections and re-imagine Jewish lives full of meaning, creativity, and joy.
Q: Where is Reboot?
A: Reboot is based in New York, with staff and programs in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and London, UK. However, Reboot projects are intended to provide our peers with innovative new tools that inspire conversation, exploration and celebration anywhere in the world.
Q: What are the values of Reboot?
A: Reboot believes that every generation has the responsibility to define issues of identity, community, and meaning on its own terms. Reboot seeks to catalyze conversations and actions around these issues with no talking heads, no assumptions and no predetermined outcome.
Q: Do I have to be Jewish to Reboot?
A: Of course not. Many of the key issues in the conversations we foster are universal: the evolution of community; the preference of our generation for networks over institutional interactions; a desire to explore meaning; the emergence of DIY, pick-and-choose culture, etc… It’s true that we ask questions from a Jewish perspective, but we relish the opportunity to learn from other traditions in addition to our own.
Q: How can I get involved in Reboot?
A: Reboot aims to provide the raw materials, a mix of ideas in a multitude of voices, to allow people to self-organize in their own homes, with their own friends, in their own way. See our current projects to get involved, and please give us your feedback at info@rebooters.net. We would love to hear what you did with the ideas. We will share your stories whenever possible.
