Death Over Dinner - Jewish Edition

The way we die is the most important conversation Americans are not having. Tap into age-old Jewish wisdom around grief, ritual, life and death by hosting your own Dinner. We’ll guide you through the process and send you materials and resources to use for your dinner.

Silver Screen Studios

A growing series of short documentaries that celebrates how we can live better while living longer. Who better to give us lessons to apply throughout our lives and show us how to face those later years with dignity, spirituality, wit, and candor than our 80+ elders who are living out loud in their silver years?

10Q -  Reflect. React. Renew

Are you ready to 10Q? From its online headquarters at www.doyou10Q.com,  Reboot’s 10Q project gives you an opportunity to answer 10 questions about the year that has just passed and the year to come, creating a new way to engage in reflection during the High Holidays.  Fusing modern technologies and ancient customs, 10Q attracts a multi-generational audience with participants ranging from teenagers to grandparents. Past questions include:

Describe a significant experience that has happened in the past year. How did it affect you? Are you grateful? Relieved? Resentful? Inspired?

Is there something that you wish you had done differently this past year? Alternatively, is there something you're especially proud of from this past year?

Describe one thing you'd like to achieve by this time next year. Why is this important to you?

National Day of Unplugging

The National Day of Unplugging is a 24 hour period – running from sunset to sunset – and starts on the first Friday in March. The project is an outgrowth of The Sabbath Manifesto, an adaption of our ancestors’ ritual of carving out one day per week to unwind, unplug, relax, reflect, get outdoors, and connect with loved ones.

Beyond Bubbie

The Beyond Bubbie project captures the spirit of that love, care, and community, by celebrating the overstuffed ideal of Bubbie’s timeless connection to Jewish food. Part cultural anthology, part community cookbook, part culinary experiment, Beyond Bubbie shares the spirit of Jewish food’s warm embrace through the stories, photographs, and recipes that emanated from Bubbie’s kitchen. It features dishes as traditional as cholent and as original as a deconstructed tongue sandwich masquerading as salad. Share your recipes, memories and photos here.

Six-Word Memoirs on Jewish Life

Introducing, “Six-Word Memoirs on Jewish Life,” the newest project from SMITH Magazine, home of the Six-Word Memoir®, and Reboot. On the web and then in book form (Feb. 2012), “Six-Word Memoirs on the Jewish Life” offers thousands of ways of looking at Judaism, six words at a time.

Everything a question with us. Why?
Moved to Israel. Rest is history.
Found Jewish princess. Good-bye succulent pork.

reBar

reBar: Rewind to 13. Fast Forward to Today. reBar opens and creates a space for individuals, and then families and communities, to explore and reflect upon their B-Mitzvah (that's Bar and Bat) experiences as an evolving part of life. Redo your B-Mitzvah speech or candle lighting ceremony, relearn your weekly Torah portion or invite your friends to share their B-Mitzvah stories together. Not sure how to start? Our DIY toolkit and reBar worksheet helps you begin the process. You can reBar solo or in a group, in interfaith families, and with Jews by choice and even if you haven't had a B-Mitzvah. Why reBar? We were 13 when we made our B-Mitzvah commitments...let's see if they apply today and make commitments for the future.

Unscrolled

IT’S A REINTERPRETATION, A REIMAGINING, A CREATIVE CELEBRATION: 54 leading Jewish writers, artists, photographers, and screenwriters, plus actors, an architect, a musician, and more grapple with the first five books of the Bible, giving new meaning to the 54 Torah portions. Edited by Roger Bennett, one of the founders of Reboot, UNSCROLLED is a gathering of engaging, diverse voices that will speak to anyoneinterested in Jewish culture and identity. In stories, poems, memoirs, plays, infographics—plus a Web search, a graphic novel, and a psychiatric transcript—it offers a fresh take on the Torah, its value, and its place in our lives.

Hosted by Dan Crane and Jessica Chaffin. Produced by Dan Crane, Sarah DiLeo, Adam Sachs, Dave Jargowsky. Design and artwork by Josh Sassoon. A project of Reboot

The friday app

FRIDAY is a free mobile App, designed and produced by Reboot + IDEO, for the iPhone. It offers a distinctive invitation -- a warm welcome and open door to unplugging, mindfulness, and connection. Each Friday, 30 minutes before sunset, your phone's screen recedes into a blissful twilight and serves up a short thought-provoking story and question to prompt a pause for personal reflection and lively discussion. Using head, heart, and humor, FRIDAY helps transition us from the stressful week into a more restful weekend state of mind.
