Night 5
Night 5 - LESSONS FROM THE LOCKDOWN
Rebecca Odes, Christopher Noxon and Beth Karlin
“Lessons from the Lockdown" is an animation-meditation with music, words and pictures from Rebecca Odes and Christopher Noxon and inspiration and organization from Beth Karlin. The project grew out of conversations during the pandemic lock-down. The short film offers eight points of reflection to light our way through the darkness, with narration by the Reverend RK Smith of Dexter Avenue Church in Montgomery Alabama.
Rebecca Odes is a multimedia artist and writer. She is an author and illustrator of four books about life stages and personal identity and the cofounder of gurl.com, wifey.tv, and most recently, thecherrypicks.com.
Christopher Noxon is a writer and illustrator whose work has appeared in the New Yorker, the Atlantic and Salon. He’s the author of the illustrated “Good Trouble: Lessons from the Civil Rights Playbook,” the novel “Plus One,” and the nonfiction “Rejuvenile: Kickball, Cartoons, Cupcakes and the Reinvention of the American Grown Up.”
Beth Karlin founded the See Change Institute to take the world’s leading academic research “to the streets” and help good people do good better. She is currently working on projects to improve vaccination rates, engage young people in science, build resilient food systems and stem anthropogenic climate change. If Beth’s not working, you can probably find her running, dancing, yoga-ing, traveling, hiking or hosting brunch at her 1911 craftsman home in Venice Beach, CA.
And if you want to give some light…

THIS HANUKKAH, GIVE LIGHT.
This year, we are curating eight gifts of imagination from Reboot’s community of culture creators, asking them to share the music, art and ideas that are giving them light right now. Over the eight days of the holiday, we will share those gifts out for others to find light inside.
From December 10-18, we will offer quick bits of content to read, watch and hear - along with recommendations of places that need light.
